Design-Build
Design-build experts
As design-build experts, the Sprig team brings an innovative approach to our engineering and design services. We have evolved with the industry and understand that productivity, quality and communication are essential project elements.
To ensure we are doing more than just "checking the box", we have combined our Preconstruction, Engineering, Title 24, BIM and Project Planning teams into a Big Room environment. Known as Virtual Design Construction (VDC), this integrated environment allows for cross-functional collaboration throughout the project life-cycle. By pulling our team members out of the traditional workspace, Sprig has created an environment which enhances communication, a key to project success. This approach creates a design protocol across all teams, allowing us to provide quality documentation to all project stakeholders.
Order Of Preconstruction Operations
All opportunities begin in our estimating department. Sprig’s preconstruction team will perform a Basis of Design (BOD) assessment to evaluate constructability. Your opportunity can then be properly estimated and submitted back to you. Once awarded, your opportunity becomes a project in our system and is directed to the next team based on its delivery method. Design-build and design-assist projects are routed to our engineering team who will design and produce drawings in-house, while plan-spec and pre-engineered projects are routed directly to our Title 24 Compliance team.
All projects are passed through our Title 24 Compliance team as a requirement per the State of California’s Building Energy Efficiency Standards. Following Title 24 compliance evaluation, your project will migrate to our BIM team for modeling and clash detection/avoidance (if necessary). Finally, your project meets our Project Planning team who will act as a conduit between our design and prefabrication/construction teams. Our Project Planning teams are comprised of industry experts who understand how to expedite the construction process using prefabrication while complying with code. Prior to construction, your project will be assessed for prefabrication opportunities and a strategy will be developed with our Project Manager, General Foreman and design teams.

Sprig provides the following across all systems we design & install:
- Documentation: basis of design, sequence of operation, specification development, code review and interpretation, and existing systems field verification
- Power distribution design: load calculations, power monitoring, interpretation, assessment and analysis, system short circuit and circuit breaker coordination analysis
- Lighting design: photometric calculations, Title 24 energy calculations, LEED conformance and documentation, controls integration
- BIM: trade clash detection and avoidance
- Startup and commissioning services and documentation
Talent and Tools
Our design teams work with state-of-the-art software including REVIT MEP, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Standard, Navisworks and Architectural Desktop. Project Planning teams also work with state-of-the-art software such as PlanGrid and Trimble to expedite live time changes in the field over to our design teams which reduces labor hours spent manually plotting fixture locations in a building’s ceiling plan(s). Sprig maintains staff members who are qualified in Professional Engineering, LEED and Six-Sigma. On an average, we deliver over 200 design-build projects a year that, at a minimum, achieve “LEED certified” status.
